Designer stairs...

Finding it to be extortionate to carpet your stairs?? Helen over on the Livingetc forum was quoted ridiculous prices so armed with a hand sander , floor paint and a "roll of Orla's best" she set to work on the stairs of her recently renovated house. She painstakingly papered every step and then varnished them with a water based silk varnish intended for heavy traffic, she says they still look as good eight months after finishing it. Wallpaper available at Orla Kiely

Sexy desk...

I came across this gorgeous desk on my Interboogle travels and it really is beautiful. I also noticed the metalwork to the left of the photo and I was amazed because that is exactly how I have designed it for the loft to match the metalwork we had made for the lounge stairs!

Wallpaper lust...

Currently we haven't got any wallpaper in the flat, it's something that I think I have shied away from because I don't want to make a monumental mistake. However I am considering maybe doing one wall either in our main bedroom or the spare one and I love the Net and Ball wallpaper by Absolute Zero Degrees. It was originally designed in 1951 for the Royal Festival Hall in London and it was the pattern used on the carpets throughout. It is only available from the Royal Festival Hall so a trip to fantabulous old London may be in order....

Kitchen sink drama...

We are going to update our kitchen, the above pics are the kitchen as it is now and when we knocked it through about five years ago. It's the only "during" pic I can find. Taking the wall down was something I wanted to do from the very first day we viewed the flat and what a difference it made! The area to the left has gone from the most unused and dead part of the flat to the most used especially during one of our parties. We desperately need more storage space and because we can't buy the matching doors we have decided to go for a gloss white handle-less design by adding another larder unit on the opposite wall and changing the doors, drawers and side panels. The stainless steel work tops are staying and although they are a complete pain to keep clean I absolutely love them. I'm obsessing about it all now as usual and just want to see it all done...

Problems in the bedroom...

I'm not sure what to do with the wall behind the bed!?? I think I want to paint it a colour but I'm really not sure??
The orange cushions will be going because I am having some rectangular cushions made using some original 70's material that I bought on Evilbay (hint hint Likklesis!!!). I have a few colours in mind like grey, sage green, yellow ochre or black.....or just leave it white! Me...indecisive!??! That's what being a Libran does for you!  I'm very pleased with our new Componibili units though.

Drooling over the table...

The shape of the Figura side tables by Stephen Veit is quite simply stunning, I'm drooling over them as I type! Manufactured by Draenert. Via cribcandy

New year, new loft....

Well hopefully!!! David bought me the much coveted and lusted after Stendig calendar for Christmas and even though the loft isn't finished I just had to put it on the wall! We also went to IKEA last week and I bought an Aspvik cabinet which is a very good price, it's currently supported by my piles of Livingetc and ELLE Decoration magazines! I have chosen which colour flooring to have at long last ( the dark grey by the way ) and will be ordering it later today! Yay!

And the winner is......

Thank you everyone who has left comments on the Biglove Christmas give away!! I put all the names into a hat (well to be honest it was a small cardboard box!) and my partner David picked out winning name......and the winner is noodle!!!
Congratulations! Your print will be on it's way to you very soon. Happy New Year to everyone and I look forward to a year of delicious and gorgeous designs to get all obsessed about!
