Chill or party...

What a perfect space to chill out and relax while listening to your favourite music ........or having a load of friends over for a mad hedonistic party till the sun comes up!! Via ffffound

Midweek treats...

Things that made me go oooh on my interboogle travels. I'm coveting the gorgeous minimal sideboard in the last pic.

Anyone for coffee?...

My Eames Aluminum coffee table has arrived and I absolutely love it! It's the perfect size for the space and because of it's shape it softens that end of the lounge. Anyone noticed the small amount of yellow that has crept in!?? I'm looking at the sofas now and wishing they were re-upholstered in a charcoal grey fabric. I still dream about having a corner unit....sigh......

Picture perfect...

God I love this painting by Sydney based artist Paul Davies!!! It would be so perfect in our flat! I wouldn't say it was speaking to me......it's screaming at me!

Yellow fever...

For some reason I am craving a splash of yellow in our flat!? Very bizarre considering I hated the colour with a passion! Not too much, just a small amount of it somewhere although I did buy a paint tester pot the other day so watch this space...

Kitchen harmony...

Here it is! A few things to finish off like the back of the unit where the stools are, the side panels on the wall cupboards and the bit between the dishwasher and washing machine. Oh and the whole lot needs repainting because it has all discoloured even though I only painted it last August!!! So I will have to paint the whole lot white again and I am considering painting the wall behind the hob a colour, I will post some mock-ups that I have done. I'm extremely pleased with it and the white glossiness of the units makes the kitchen look much bigger and brighter. I'm so glad that the devastation is over...

Kitchen chaos!!!...

Well most of the kitchen is now done but it wasn't the easiest of journeys! Above  are the larder units from start to finish. Trying to remove the old metal legs and replacing them with the plastic ones late at night was eventful to say the least. At one point I was half lying under them thinking that they would collapse on top of me! I was amazed when I cleared out the cupboards at how much was actually in there! Now we have loads of room and David is like someone possessed making sure that all the bottles of alcohol have their labels facing to the front! There was me thinking that it was me who was the one with an obsessive compulsive disorder.....

Coffee break...

My apologies for the lack of posts in the last week or so, I have been extremely busy trying to finish the kitchen (lots of pics later!). We also decided to have a party on Easter Saturday so I was like a looney tune running around with a screwdriver in one hand and a tape measure in the other! My top tip is not to try and put a larder unit together while looking after your five year old nephew. Although he has found the world of the Playstation 3 and was playing "Burnout" which kept him in a heightened state of excitement until he wanted his Uncle Mark to change the car which was frequent and somewhat frustrating!
Anyhoo, most of the kitchen was finished by the time Saturday arrived and we were all prepared for the party. Half way through the night a rather drunk friend fell on the coffee table and destroyed it! The legs snapped off and now it will be going to IKEA heaven, we had discussed changing it because we have had it a few years now but lets just say I was not a happy Easter bunny!!! Every cloud has a siver lining as the saying goes because we won a rather gorgeous Eames Aluminum Group table on Evilbay last night and I love it. Now I am impatiently waiting for it to arrive.......

Post it....

Front page news...

I was really pleased and surprised yesterday to see my Biglove print had made it onto the front page of Etsy! Thank you very much!!!

A spoonful of sugar...

Why do the things we expect to go smoothly never do?? Well i have made a start and it is going well so far apart from some damaged doors in transit, I have had to sort out some different legs (thanks to a very kind friend on the Livingetc forum who found some spare ones which will fit in her garage and she has posted them to me today!!!) because the plinths wont fit properly. I like the metal leg look but it's time for a change. I phoned the helpline today after being told by the store that I would have to wait six weeks for the replacement doors and he said I will have them next Wednesday!!! Very good service! I'm also missing twelve plastic plugs for the wall cupboard doors! They have changed the way the door is attached to the spring hinges and they didn't include any but they are posting some to me. Then there was David who "helped" me to attach a side panel to the sink unit today and decided to move the spoon which was keeping it level (it was the only thing I could find which raised it just enough!! LOL).....strange really because he never usually decides to pick up something and put it away for me!!??? More pics as it progresses....
